Privacy

The short version

This site has no accounts, no logins, and no advertising. It sets no cookies. Page views are counted in aggregate by Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not identify you and does not follow you anywhere. The only personal information the site asks for is an email address, and only if you choose to subscribe.

What is collected

If you subscribe

Your email address, and the date you subscribed. It is used to send The House View and nothing else. It is not sold, rented, traded, or shared for anyone else's marketing.

Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing is one click and is never harder than subscribing. You can also write to research@shanehixon.com and ask to be removed, or to have your address deleted outright.

If you only read

Nothing is collected by this site. Requests are logged by the hosting provider in the ordinary course of serving a page, which includes IP address, the page requested, and the browser's user agent. Those logs belong to the host and are retained under the host's own policy.

Who processes it

Cloudflare, Inc.

Hosting, content delivery, Web Analytics, and the routing behind the @shanehixon.com email address. Sees request data for every page served.

Kit (ConvertKit, LLC)

The email list. Holds subscriber addresses and delivery records. Your address goes to Kit when you submit the form, and nowhere else.

Google LLC, Google Fonts

Serves the three typefaces this site uses. A browser loading a page requests those font files from Google, which means Google sees the request, including your IP address.

Analytics

This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. It counts page views and reports aggregate figures such as which pages were read and roughly where in the world the readers were. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, uses no fingerprinting, and cannot follow you to any other site. There is no profile of you anywhere in it, which is also why this site has no cookie banner.

AI tools

AI tools are used in producing the research and writing published here. Editorial judgment and final approval are Shane's, and no piece publishes without his review. Reader data is not part of that process: nothing you submit to this site, including your email address, is fed to an AI system.

Your rights

Write to research@shanehixon.com to ask what is held about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. Requests are answered whether or not the law where you live requires it.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

Material changes are reflected in the date at the top of this page. If a new processor is added, or the site starts collecting something it does not collect today, this page is updated before that change goes live.
